The GMB or Google My Business listing is a nice feature to get the most out of your local SEO. The GMB is inside your gmail account and up in the top right hand corner under your apps. This feature with google allows you to set up your google business page and it feeds right into the google maps listing that you see at the top of the search results in a local area. We are huge advocates of setting this up because it puts your business at the top of the page for the local search if done correctly and optimized for google. When setting it up there are some ways to get the most out of it for sure. You want to fill everything out in detail before submitting for verification. There are numerous fields that need to be completed such as your type of service, hours of operation, website, phone number and the exact name of your business. Next, you will want to upload some company photos in the section that asks for them and make sure to put as many as possible. This gives you the opportunity to be more thorough than your competitors that are showing up in your area as well for the same service. Don’t skimp here! Just because it takes a few extra minutes, doesn’t mean you only put in a photo or two….Really make sure to fill in all the areas and go the extra mile since it will help you get an edge over the others who took the shortcut on completing it. Once you have completed all the fields in your google my business page in its entirety, it is time to verify with them. You will see a button continue to pop up that asks you to verify your listing and you would just click there to be taken to that prompt. Make sure everything is accurate, namely your physical address because they will be mailing you a postcard with a code on it to complete the verification process. Having the wrong address will definitely delay the process and you won’t get the card. If you have it correct, then submit for the postcard and you are done for now! When you get it in the mail you can verify the listing to make your google my business account go live and you will be on your way. After a day or two, you should be able to find your map listing now since it is verified and live. Typically it will be a good ways down from the top since it is brand new so keep scrolling to find it. That is not the end of the story though, but the first part is done for sure.
